Peter Rabbit

Today we read Peter Rabbit and did a character analysis.  I got this idea from The Golden Gang!

Then, we created our own Peter Rabbits!  The directions are from TLC Lessons.

Have a great day!

Easter and Letter N!

This week we will participate in many Easter related activities.  Here is the one that we started out with this morning.
Students chose an egg from the basket and opened it.  Inside is a folded addition problem.  They used the three-sectioned tray and Easter erasers to figure out their answer.  If their answer was on their bingo card, they covered that basket on the card.  I got these cards from Donna Glynn.

Today we also began our study of letter N.  I have seen this project many times on the web.
Finally, here is one last project from last week when we studied letters Q and U.
Have a great day!

More Dr. Seuss Fun!

Throughout March we celebrate Dr. Seuss!
Here are some of our work stations and other activities!

There are a set of eight rhyming cards.  The students found the rhyming words such as goat and boat and filled out the sheet accordingly.

For this activity, there are two sets of rhyming cards.  Each child gets a set.  They play memory and put their rhyming matches on their hat when they find them.  This was from a Mailbox magazine years ago.

These two pictures show our Cat in the Hat necklaces!  They used counting cats and the tray to work out each addition problem.  After they wrote all of their answers they cut them out to make this necklace.  Of course, we also made Cat in the Hat hats too!  The necklaces came from Kelly.

These cards were in a station for matching pictures and words.
Today, each child wrote about their favorite Dr. Seuss book.

We wore silly socks/slippers to school for the book, The Foot Book.
Today, the kids wore their pajamas and brought their blankets and pillows to school.  We will have some quiet reading time this afternoon.  Later we will watch the Cat in the Hat video with some "Quiet Mix" for the letter Q!

Letter Q

This week we are studying letter Q and U.  I wanted to take a moment and post our letter Qq projects from the week:
Above is a quilt project we did with scrapbook paper and construction paper.  I found this idea from here.  She has some really nice projects!  Check it out!

Then, each student used a q-tip to paint the quilt by shape.  Then, they counted how many of each shape they found in the quilt.

I will post some of our letter U activities on another day.  Enjoy the weather!

Mrs. Wishy Washy!

Wow, I have a lot to share today!
I LOVE the book Mrs. Wishy Washy!  It is one of my favorite books to use during the school year!  Here are a few of our activities that we completed this week!
They each made their own Mrs. Wishy Washy from paper plates.

You can find the instructions at Making Learning Fun!

The kids really got into this story and all that we did to go with it.  They were so excited when I brought this out to add to our puzzle collection!
I added this story map to our Mrs. Wishy Washy art projects to make this bulletin board.  The tub idea came from here.

We also completed a graph of our favorite character from the story.  I got this idea from Overall Success.

Each year the students love to make their own interactive Mrs. Wishy Washy books.  You can grab your own from Kelly's Kindergarten.

Here is one more project that we completed for our letter study.  I found it here!

Those Pesky Leprechauns!

We must have had a few leprechauns visit our classroom!  Friday we arrived to a mess!  School boxes were dumped, chairs flipped over, books and blocks all over the floor.  We also had our palm tree tipped over, green glitter on the floor, and our calendar was a mess!  They did however, leave a piece of gold for each child.  Oh, how they treasured those all day!

I, of course, forgot to take pictures of all of our messes!  The kids were so quick to help clean up.
We did make these hats that I found on  Pinterest.  You can get the pattern for it here.

We also read Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham.  While cooking and eating it, we also watched the video.  They really enjoyed it!

We did make a graph of whether we liked it or not.  Of course, I forgot to take a picture of that too!  So, here is the picture that I got from Pinterest.
Well, I have a lot more to share from our Dr. Seuss study as well as all that we did with our Mrs. Wishy Washy unit!  That will have to be saved for another day (maybe tomorrow).  It is time to enjoy the weather and get some cleaning done!

The Cat and the Hat and Rainbows!

Here are few March projects that were able to accomplish yesterday.  We have conferences on Monday and I think that we are ready!

Also, as we wrapped up our February themes we completed this Dental Health Project.  The idea was from 2 Teaching Mommies.
